honest advice. Serving patients in Morayfield, Caboolture, North Lakes, Narangba, and the broader Moreton Bay region.
Skin texture, tone, and the way your skin looks and feels can shift over time — shaped by sun exposure, the natural ageing process, past breakouts, scarring, lifestyle, and individual skin characteristics.
If something has been on your mind, you deserve clear, honest information. At Simply Balanced Cosmetic Clinic, every skin needling consultation starts with a doctor, not a checklist.
What is skin needling?
Skin needling — also referred to as microneedling — is a procedure that uses fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. In a clinical setting, it may be considered as part of an individualised treatment plan for concerns related to:
- Skin texture and uneven tone
- The appearance of fine lines
- Enlarged or congested pores
- Certain types of scarring, including post-acne marks
The procedure works by initiating the skin’s natural repair process. As the skin responds to the micro-channels, it produces collagen and elastin as part of its healing response — which may, over time and with appropriate treatment planning, contribute to changes in skin texture and appearance.
Is skin needling right for you?
Skin needling may be considered for people experiencing:
- Textural changes or roughness in the skin
- The appearance of enlarged pores
- Post-acne marks or certain types of superficial scarring
- General concerns about skin quality and appearance over time
It may not be appropriate for people with active skin infections, open wounds, certain inflammatory or autoimmune skin conditions, a history of keloid scarring, or other individual factors that may affect suitability or recovery.
A thorough medical consultation is required before any recommendation is made.
Facial lines can develop and change over time for a number of reasons, including:
Repeated facial movement and expression
lines that form from habitual muscle activity, such as around the eyes, forehead, and mouth
Natural skin ageing
Gradual changes in skin structure, elasticity, and thickness that occur with age
Sun exposure and environmental factors
UV damage over time can accelerate changes in skin texture and tone
Individual skin characteristics
genetics, skin type, and lifestyle all play a role in how and when lines develop
Understanding the likely contributing factors is an important part of any assessment — which is why a thorough, personalised consultation always comes first.
Our Approach
A considered, enhanced approach to skin needling
Where appropriate, we may combine skin needling with a complementary topical step intended to support the skin during the process — chosen and applied based on your individual assessment. The aim is to support improvements in fine lines, skin texture, tone, and overall skin quality. As with everything we do, whether this approach suits you is decided during your consultation, and results vary between individuals.
Dr Jeremy will take the time to:
- 1
Understand what’s been bothering you and for how long
- 2
Review your relevant medical and skin history
- 3
Discuss your current skincare routine and any recent treatments
- 4
Assess individual factors that may affect suitability or recovery
- 5
Explain clearly whether skin needling may — or may not — be appropriate for you
If it’s not the right fit, he’ll tell you that honestly — and discuss alternative options, including doing nothing for now.
What may skin needling be considered for?
Depending on your individual assessment, your consultation may cover:
- What skin needling is designed to address — and what it is not
- Whether you are a suitable candidate based on your history and skin condition
- Realistic benefits and honest limitations
- Possible risks and side effects specific to your situation
- How to prepare beforehand and what aftercare involves
- Review needs and what follow-up may look like
- Whether an alternative approach may be better suited to your concerns
Recovery and aftercare — what to expect
Recovery from skin needling varies between individuals and depends on the nature of the treatment performed. Common post-procedure experiences can include:
- Redness and skin sensitivity
- Swelling or tightness
- Skin flaking or dryness
Sun protection is important following any skin needling procedure. Dr Jeremy will provide personalised aftercare instructions based on your skin type, concerns, and the treatment performed.
